The first day of the Conference will see all delegates travel to Hallett Cove, an outer suburb of Adelaide, for a field trip. Delegates will break into Primary, Secondary, Tertiary groups depending on their area of interest. Each group will be led by an experienced Educator working in that educational section. If there are sufficient delegates in the general community geotourism or geo-education field these will make up a fourth group. The following day, delegates will unpack their field trip experience and build skills and learn teaching aids, according to their educational domain or area of interest. There will be workshops, demonstrations and opportunities to showcase the best examples of Geoscience teaching from around the world. The conference will close with a plenary Big Ideas Day (BID). The Big Ideas Day concept was developed by the AGC and is an interactive and collaborative discussion and solution seeking session where everyone has an opportunity to contribute. The GeoSciEd-X BID will look at what is working from around the world, what it could look like if improved or scaled up, what is needed to get there and goals for the next four years through a process of Appreciative Enquiry.

We invite you to share your innovative approaches, ideas, and techniques in Earth Science education at the GeoSciEd-X conference in Adelaide, Australia from 14th – 16th August 2026.

Have you developed a hands-on activity, a killer lab, a fun simulation, or a unique teaching method that just works? We want to hear about it! This conference is a place to share practical, classroom-ready ideas that other educators can use the very next day.

Don’t feel like your idea needs to be ground-breaking. Sometimes, the most valuable contributions are simple, effective activities that you’ve already found success with in your own classroom. Your practical approach could be a game-changer for someone else.

Whether you’re an educator from the primary, secondary, or tertiary sector, or you work with an organisation or government agency aimed at this audience, we warmly encourage you to participate. We’re looking for sessions that are:

  • Hands-on & Interactive: Provide a dynamic experience, not just a lecture.
  • Engaging: Spark curiosity and active participation.
  • Classroom-Ready: Offer a practical resource or activity that can be implemented with minimal effort.
