Position Description – AGC Administration officer
The Australian Geoscience Council is the peak body representing eight geoscience member organisations and covering around 8,000 professional geoscientists.
The administration officer supports the Board (Executive, past Chair, past President and committee chairs) in the general operations of the AGC. The position is part-time with flexible hours, apart from the times of AGC and committee meetings. Location is not critical, although most current executive members are Perth based. The Council and three committees (Education, Advocacy, Sustainability) meet remotely on a roughly quarterly basis. The Board various times between these meetings.
The preferred candidate should have a degree or substantial experience in the earth sciences, be self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision. They will need to be (or become familiar) with Google Docs and have good organisational and communication skills.
The position reports to the Secretary of the AGC.
The position will be remunerated on the basis of either an honorarium or to an ABN registered entity on an hourly rate as agreed between the successful candidate and the Executive.
It is anticipated that this job will require around 200 hours of time per year.
